Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the London Community Resource Centre!
We deeply appreciate you considering partnering with us Your contribution as a volunteer is invaluable in helping us deliver impactful programs like our Grow Cook Learn workshop series.
On a typical workshop day (usually 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM, with potential advance preparation), you might find yourself:
- Setting up the workshop space, including equipment, ingredients, and participant stations
- Taking charge of a specific station, guiding participants through activities.
- Circulating amongst participants, offering friendly conversation and assistance as needed.
Our aim is to create a healthy and welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable learning. Workshops can range from 10 to 30 participants and may involve station-based work, following recipes, engaging with short presentations, and observing demonstrations. After the workshop concludes, volunteers play a vital role in cleaning tables, distributing leftover ingredients, washing dishes, and other general tidying tasks.
For those interested in our culinary programs, our Public Grow Cook Learn series welcomes volunteers aged high school and above. You can find more information about this exciting program here.
We also offer opportunities to support our younger participants. The Youth Prep & Eat series requires volunteers with a high school diploma and a genuine sense of care and patience when interacting with young participants. Learn more about how you can contribute to this program here.
Beyond our workshop series, volunteers can also get involved in our vibrant green spaces. The Westview Community Garden is a space rented out to community members who may lack the space or resources to garden at home. Volunteer duties in the garden can vary and may include tilling garden plots, caring for our apple tree, assisting gardeners with larger tasks such as distributing soil and compost, and building garden boxes. Occasionally, extra garden plots may be utilized for workshop purposes. Please note that there is no specific schedule for garden volunteer activities, offering flexibility for those interested.
In all our volunteer roles, please know that all necessary materials and equipment will be provided.
All prospective volunteers will be invited for an interview. While not mandatory, we encourage you to submit a resume and cover letter outlining your experience and interest.
Thank you once again for your interest in making a difference with the London Community Resource Centre!
