Play in the dirt with the LCRC!

The LCRC is excited to announce a Children’s Gardening Program this summer at the Thames Park Community Garden and the East London Community Garden.

These gardens will be places in which children and their families can learn about growing healthy food and interacting in positive ways with nature. The program will be  hands-on and engaging, and will appeal to children from ages 3-13 years old. Children will have the opportunity to play with worms, hunt for insects, examine caterpillars, make toad houses, pick fresh veggies, and more.

There will be a community launch at Thames Park on Wednesday, June 18 from 6-7:30 and at the East London garden on Sunday, June 22 in the early afternoon.  Our summer program will begin the week of July 7 and end the week of August 18. There will be weekly themes including Wiggly Worms, Wild Garden Friends, Bees and Butterflies, and Amazing Veggies.

At Thames garden, families and children can drop-in for the program on Mondays from 3-4 p.m. and Tuesdays from 5-6  p.m and 7-8 p.m. At the East London garden, families and children can drop-in for the program on Thursdays from 3-4 p.m.

The gardens are located at Thames Park at 25 Ridout St and at the East London Community Garden at Church of the Ascension at 2060 Dundas St East.

Everyone welcome…hope to see you in the garden this summer! For more information or to volunteer with the program please email Becky at projectsupport@lcrc.on.ca
